Postcards in a Glass
Every glass of wine should tell a story, be an autobiography of sorts that takes you where it originated. There are neutral, generic wines that speak of no place in particular, but a great wine (price is irrelevant here) will share something of its origins, its uniqueness, a reason for you to appreciate it.
This is a bi-weekly podcast sharing journeys with wine, with people who make wine and with people who love wine. I want every glass to send you a postcard from somewhere special and this podcast is your vehicle to visit. The program includes conversations with people who are passionate about wine - wine makers, wine collectors, wine sellers and wine consumers like you and me. Occasionally I’ll include notes are particularly interesting wines that I think do a particularly good job of sending us a postcard from their place of origin.
Guests on the initial series of episodes include winemakers Paul Hobbs, Gerard Bertrand, Bordeaux (and now South of France) superstar Jean-Guillaume Prats, Heidi von der Mehden of Merry Edwards, Clément Pierlot of Champagne Pommery, and Ana Cumsille of Chile’s Carmen winery. Other guests include Greg Lambrecht (inventor of the Coravin wine preservation system) and Adrien Pélissié of La Bouche du Roi at Versailles. We’ve got interesting stories and we’ll taste some interesting wines along the way, all the while exploring wine’s sense of place.
The latest episode, released on November 24, 2025, features a conversation with Weston Eidson of the exceptional sparkling wine producer Westborn Wines. Sourcing grapes from small, high-quality vineyards in Napa, Sonoma and Mendocino, these wines are terrific and Weston has a great story that he shares with passion and humor. It’s a fun conversation that I hope you will enjoy.
